Why you should become a student member of AHDI –
Student membership through AHDI is for any individual who is currently enrolled in a medical transcription course or program and is not currently working as an MT.
AHDI - The Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity. They were established in 1978 to achieve the recognition for the medical transcription career. They play a huge part in trying to make sure that each medical transcriptionist is recognized as a professional and not just a clerical worker. In 1999 the US Department of Labor recognized medical transcription as a professional career.
AHDI was formally known as the AAMT – American Association for Medical Transcription.
The staff at AHDI works very hard to make sure that those that work in the medical transcription career field have a voice when it comes to any changes in the health care documentation that might affect their career.
By becoming a student member of AHDI you will be able to keep up with any new news in the medical transcription career field. You will also receive discounts on books and other material that can better your career.
AHDI has meetings in many cities /states that can keep you educated on the career and help you network with other MTs. This is very important for those that are just getting their foot in the door as a medical transcriptionist.
As a student member you will also receive their Plexus magazine which is a bi-monthly member publication. It will keep you informed on things such as: medical science, education, technology, pharmacology, transcription styles and practices, and much more.
