Medical transcription is a very rewarding career. You can work on location or out of your home. Most Medical Transcriptionists are paid by the character line. As technology has advanced over the years so have the features within the common programs such as MS Word, Excel, etc. You can save a lot of time by creating templates or shortcuts through the auto correct feature. This can be done for a simple phrase or for a complete paragraph. Instead of typing out History of Present Illness you can create a shortcut key such as “hopi”. This means that you are only typing 4 characters but you are getting paid for much more! You get paid for all of the words or phrases that your shortcut expands out. This feature will save you time and help you earn more money! Be sure to keep a list of any shortcut keys you create. If you create macros you will also want to keep a list of those as well.
