Yes, you will have some doctors that will decide to try the EMR System along with the SRT (Speech Recognition Technology) to try to do all of the work his or her self.  However, they will find that this will take up a lot of their time and that they will still need that “extra set of eyes” that an MT can give. 


The EMR will help to have all of the patient information in one location electronically so that other physicians can access the patient’s file to see what prior diagnosis were or what current medications the patient is on.

Have you ever seen a funny video on You Tube that spread like wild fire across the Internet? How about those cute emails that are sent to a friend and then forwarded to 10 people, then 10 more people?


Before you know it that email that was so cute has made it around the Internet  to hundreds of thousands of people.  This is how fast something funny, cute, bizarre or even inaccurate information  can spread so fast with the technology of email, websites and the media.

facts to come forward and educate people on what is real and what is untrue

There are some companies out there that are pushing the EMR system so hard trying to get physicians to “buy” their EMR system that they are making all kinds of “promises to the physicians”.  While
some of the features of the EMR are very interesting and will be a benefit to physicians, the statement that the EMR will take the place of the Medical Transcriptionist is not accurate

Getting your 1st Medical Transcription Job with 
No Prior Experience:

Some MTs will just give up when they see these type of job ads and waste all the money and time they put into their MT training, others will understand the process and continue to dig in and put effort into their new career.  You will get out of it what you put into it.  Those that just sit and wait for a job to fall in their lap will find that it takes longer for them to get into an MT Job.  Those that work hard at getting their name and career information out there will eventually see the benefits.

The following are tips on how to get your first medical transcription job without experience. 

 

The school you went through might or might not have job assistance after you complete your training.  If they do that is wonderful!  However, even with job assistance from the school, there are things you can be doing on your own to increase your chances of getting into a medical transcription position a lot sooner!

 

A lot of MTs that finish their training program will get “discouraged” from job ads that they see on the Internet such as: “Medical Transcription Job Opening Acute Care—2 years of experience required”. 

 

“The EMR will not take the place of the MT. 

MTs have to be willing to adapt to change and take their career seriously.  Staying credentialed is very important.”
